This release contains Administration level updates. The primary focus was to improve our product model architecture, which also resulted in a number of Admin panel updates.
Our previous product model treated each individual instructor’s course as a product under the book it was associated, whereas all other products associated with a book were treated as a singular product. For example, we have a single printed book product, but have a physical inventory with many copies of that printed book product. Individual courses are now separated, but we have one Instructor-Led course product that can be managed.
We’ve updated the Admin navigation as well. The Content Manager is now referred to as Books, and the Products section only lists products for all of the books.
All of the individual Instructor-Led courses are now under the new Courses tab.
The LMS tab
When managing a book, the LMS tab has been removed entirely.
You can access the Course Information section that was located in the LMS tab in the redesigned Instructor-Led Course product.
The Book Resources section has been migrated to the Content tab.
The Instructor-Led Course product was also revised.
With individual instructor courses split out, an instructor is no longer associated with the Instructor-Led Product, but with the actual course she is teaching.
There is a new field called Moodle ID in the Instructor-Led Course Product that lets you associate your Master Course in the LMS with the Instructor-Led Product.
Lastly, under the Product Restrictions section, Course copying has been moved to the individual course and removed from the Instructor-Led Product.
Instructors Courses & Student Subscriptions
The process for creating an individual instructor’s course has also been updated. You can find the details on how to create an individual course in your Admin guides.
The process for creating and modifying a students subscription to a course has also been updated.
When creating a new subscription, you now select the product, the course, and the section.
Since courses are no longer managed as product, when editing a subscription, you no longer change the product that the student in, but their course and section.
